The landscape of mental health treatment in schools is one that is dynamic and ever changing. However, the more things change the more they stay the same. The accessibility of mental health treatment particularly for marginalized students is a consistent factor when we look at what prevents students from utilizing these services. Some of the primary concerns include a lack of representation on staff of diverse identities, treatment models that are steeped in a white-supremacist culture, as well as other institutional obstacles that can make participating in university services difficult (i.e. part-time status, holds on accounts, etc.). We need a change.Speaker
