Dear PCC Partners,
The marathon of work at the Partnership continues at full pace as we approach the end of 2023. We were grateful to host our annual Illinois Equity in Attainment (ILEA) Summit with our colleagues on November 3 at the College of Lake County in Grayslake, Ill.
This year’s theme was Transformation Is A Conscious Choice and featured dynamic presentations from the Aspen Institute’s Pascale Charlot and many of our dedicated partners in equity work. It was an inspiring day that will inform the work ahead for us into the new year and beyond.
On the policy front, we’re continuing to push our legislative leaders to pass state policies that will transform our institutions and our state, especially as it relates to equitable funding in Illinois higher education. Through our advocacy as leaders of the Coalition for Transforming Higher Education Funding, we are building a powerful community of advocates across the state to urge legislative leaders to pass a funding formula that is equitable, stable, and adequate. We will continue to push the Commission on Equitable Public University Funding to achieve this goal ahead of funding formula recommendations that are scheduled to be released by the Commission on Equitable Public University Funding in March 2024.
We take immense pride in collaborating with exceptional partners who are passionate about championing equity. We hope you’ll continue to engage with us in our work and follow us on LinkedIn, Facebook and X as we work towards creating a higher education system that is more equitable for all of our Illinois students.
In partnership for equity,
Lisa Castillo Richmond
