Since legislative session began, PCC has been working diligently to promote equitable policies as 2024 promises to be a critical year in both our policy and advocacy efforts. We’re excited about these new opportunities to strengthen our relationships, engage our diverse network of higher education advocates and take action on a historic higher education funding bill.
In this newsletter, you’ll find updates on our policy priorities which focus on leading efforts to transform the way Illinois funds its public universities. After two and a half years of work, the Commission on Equitable Public University Funding submitted its recommendations to the state legislature on March 1. The proposed funding formula could be a game-changer and firmly establish Illinois as a national leader for higher education equity and allow us to better serve our student population.
This generational investment in Illinois will require a strategic and passionate statewide effort to pass meaningful legislation. We’re always seeking to partner with new advocates and voices to elevate through our work with the Coalition for Transforming Higher Education Funding.
