Governors State University President and author, Elaine Maimon, as shared her experiences of campus leadership in her new book Leading Academic Change: Vision, Strategy & Transformation. The event began with a discussion of the book and was followed by a Q&A session, book signing, and receptio on June 12, 2018.

On the Table Event - Higher Ed

The Chicago Community Trust’s On the Table is an annual forum designed to take people places – to offices, schools, libraries, restaurants and other spaces where they meet others, share ideas and explore ways to improve our region. Young Invincibles, the Partnership for College Completion, and The Joyce Foundation are partnering to bring a diverse group of stakeholders to the table to discuss the future of higher education policy.

P4LSS - Fourth Cohort Meeting

The fourth and final quarterly meeting of the IL Cohort of Presidents for Latino Student Success took place at the Arturo Velazquez Center, part of Richard J. Daley College. During this meeting, college presidents and their teams from our ten partner colleges had an opportunity to connect with our Investors and Board members, to share the evidence-based practices they will implement or scale in the coming year, and continue to learn from each other.

For the third quarterly meeting of Illinois’ cohort of Presidents for Latino Student Success and Excelencia’s Celebracíon de Excelencia. We are pleased to have brought together such dedicated higher education professionals to discuss the challenges Latino, low-income, and first generation college students face on their journey towards college completion. The meeting provided an exchange of ideas and a look into national best practices for advancing Latino student success in higher education.

The Partnership for College Completion releases Unequal Opportunity in Illinois: A Look at Who Graduates College and Why it Matters – A Meta-Analysis detailing the challenges facing low-income and first generation students in higher education institutions in Illinois. The Launch Event at Waubonsee Community College was an interactive discussion about the report and the implications for local, regional, and state stakeholders with college and university leaders and community partners at their Aurora Downtown campus on Oct. 17, 2017.

We are pleased to have brought together such dedicated higher education professionals to discuss the challenges Latino, low-income, and first generation college students face on their journey towards college completion. The conference provided an exchange of ideas and a look into national best practices for advancing Latino student success in higher education.We heard from representatives from institutions of higher education throughout the country that are expanding their efforts to serve Latino students.

On Thursday August 31, PCC launched Presidents for Latino Student Success, bringing together 10 college and university presidents and their leadership teams to work alongside PCC and Excelencia in Education to build a regional community of practice focused on implementing evidence-based approaches to improving outcomes for Latino students.
